Starting at 16:15, our bid servers experienced connectivity issue with the backbone network system. The upstream providers and the network engineers had been notified and worked to correct the problem. The problem had been intermittently on and off until 19:05. We could re-route some of the bids to another network but some could not.

Although we have fixed the problem and brought back the system to the stable state, there are some parts of data that we could not extract from the backup.
- Some users in FREE PLAN that registered during June 6th to June 14th will need to re-register again otherwise you will not be able to sign in. Paid members are not affected by this.
- Some snipe data that were scheduled earlier (during June 6th to June 14th) will not be shown in the "Ended Auction" section. If you need this data, please email us again. We will see if the extracted data does not corrupt the current data.
- Paid members who are affected by this incident will receive a refund or credit.
PayPal - will receive a refund in the next 7-14 days.
Credit card - will receive another free month of service (due to high credit card processing fee).

Update (18:44), the problem has now been resolved. Users can now add, update, and delete snipe as usual. We apologize for any inconvenience that may cause.


Update (15:00), at this moments, users will not be able to schedule, update, or cancel snipe.

Update (12:45 PM), we are rebooting our server to apply the first fix. You may not be able to access some part of our site in the next 10 minutes. We will keep monitor the server. Users are advised to use caution during this time.

From 10:40 AM - 11:12 AM (April 30th), one of our database servers experiences some problem. Some users may received snipe error or unable to update/delete snipe. Resolved: Changes to eBay pages

On Feb 24, 2004, eBay has made some changes to its page format. These changes may cause an incorrect display of snipe status -- "Snipe Error" -- while those bids were being properly executed. Also it may cause missing snipes to some users. We are working to correct the issue.

Update (21:30): Preliminary workaround has been applied. There should be no missing snipe. We will later apply the secondary patch on Wednesday morning (approx 00:30) and may require a reboot. We will post an update again when the process is done.

Update (00:27 2/25/2004): We have sucessfully updated and rebooted our server. The issue has been resolved.

Lead Time (Buffer Time) can be adjusted to 1 Second

We will TEMPORARY allow users (paid members) to adjust their lead time down to 1 second before auction ends. Please note that the possibility of missing snipe caused by network delayed or slowness is greater when the lead time is set below 5-6 seconds. We will evaluate the result and determine if this can be a permanent solution.

From what we have tested, snipes are being placed correctly but often times our redundant servers (backup) have a tendency of missing snipe when using any lead time below 3 seconds. Please use your caution when trying to adjust lead time below 5 second.
